Maureen Varnavsky

Brisbane, QLD, Australia

After many years experiencing the `business’ side of art, Maureen Varnavsky is now following her heart and making art.

Aware of the transience of life, Maureen’s abstract landscape paintings bring a sense of time and place, capturing a moment of memory; of experience now passed but forever in the soul. Maureen works in oil, acrylic or mixed media. Sometimes energetic, sometimes quiet, the paintings avoid the representational view, seeking rather to find the essence of an experience.

In her bronze sculptures, Maureen explores the human condition, focusing on the aloneness of the individual. Connections that are broken, or never fulfilled. The missing touch. Created in a medium that invites the touch.

Maureen’s work has been shown in several mixed exhibitions at the Bowral Art Gallery and is held in several private collections. Maureen will graduate with a BA in Fine Art from Queensland College of Art in 2023.
